Artist Cable Griffith is developing a series of illuminated artworks for the Toledo Glass City Convention Center and is looking for photo submissions from residents of Lucas County.
Each of the six artworks will feature a different Toledo Metropark and will be based on photos submitted by the public.
These photographs will be combined and reinterpreted through a process of pixelation and abstraction. All participating photographers will receive an acknowledgment of their contributions associated with the final artwork.
This collaborative project is meant to inspire and document a collective appreciation of the region's natural spaces.
To submit photos to the project, just visit any of the following 6 Metroparks and share up to 12 photographs that capture some of your favorite elements: Oak Openings Preserve, Middlegrounds, Howard Marsh, Manhattan Marsh Preserve, Swan Creek Preserve, Wildwood Preserve.
Some tips for submitted photographs:
-
Smartphone photos are fine!
-
Photographs must feature the 6 parks listed above
-
Focus on nature, not people
-
Submit a mix of long shots and close-ups
-
Try to capture the diversity of the location (trees, water, plants, sky, landscaping, etc)
-
Photos can be from any time of year, but colorful ones are ideal
-
Submissions can be anonymous
-
Submit as many times as you wish!
If you would like to have your name credited for the submissions, make sure you include it in the image caption.
When uploading, make sure you select which Metropark your photo is from!
